The photos are a hot mess

Ok, these pictures are barely worth posting. My gosh they look HORRIBLE. Half are blurry, the other half are crooked, and in a seriously I refuse to not be blotch and smudged up mirror. UGH.
I'm going to figure out where to put my tripod that gets decent lighting. I promise... Anywho, sorry for the fail sauce. Here are the last handful of (decent) outfits I've worn.

Perfect Plaid

Top: H&M
Jeans:Kohls

I am so obsessed with plaid. It's my thing now. I really have to resist buying every type of plaid shirt I see in a store. For reals. I used to be really anti plaid, but now I love it. Can't get enough!

Disclaimer...this is an old post but I went to edit the labels and now it shows up as much more recent. Dunno what's up with that, but there you go!

New year, fresh inspiration

Now, I know it's August, and it's not a new year in the calendar sense, but as a teacher, new year means school year. A friend of mine from work and I went outlet mall shopping over the weekend and the topic of my blog came up. I showed her some of my old outfits (ones I never wore last year) and she told me I totally need to do the blog again if it helped me feel inspired because my outfits were super cute. (Aww, shucks)

Soooo... here we are. I still can't figure out a convenient photo snapping location here in my new(ish) apartment, and of course yesterday it was stormy out and my place had terrible lighting. Ohhhh well.

Today alot of people commented that my outfit matched so much!, and I can't decide if that's a good thing or means it's toooo matchy matchy. Ya know what I mean? I also got two compliments on my necklace, with one of my coworkers saying I always have the best necklaces.

So,  I have do say, maybe this whole, getting back into the blog and going back to putting more thought into my outfits is not such a bad idea....

Wow, that was a pretty terrible run on sentence, eh?

Take no mind of the smudges that won't come off the mirror...

Yesterday:
 Flats: H&M
Skirt: Gordmans
Tank: NY&CO Outlet

Today:
 Pants: Bergners
Tank: Old Navy Outlet
Necklace: Custom via etsy

4th of July nails

Why yes, I did drop off the face of the blogging earth for almost a year. Life was busy with a new job, new town, and planning a wedding. I've also not been too motivated to photograph outfits anymore.

Anywhoooo...

This took me entirely too long but I haven't done any nail art or stamping (or heck barely painted my nails) since I moved...so it was fun. =)

BM plate 21, if anyone cares. The rest was with nail tape "stenciling"?

Sephora Makeover

So I got an email about a free event at Sephora for a makeup application and there were free gifts. Who doesn't like a free gift?

Hoping to learn a little, and maybe find some products to fill a few voids I've been searching for, I went with tiny hopes that *maybe* it would go ok.

Last time I had my makeup done, I thought it looked ridiculous.

This time, I look pasable, but still ridiculous in my own mind. This is why I refuse to get my makeup done for my wedding in June. I won't look like me and I'll hate it. Sigh. Here's the before and after

On the left, naked face. On the right, I feel like I look like about ten years older with that god awful liner under my eyes. Overall, it seems ok, but the photo is making it look better than it is. The foundation has zero coverage, or at least for the amount that was used. My healing chin zit actually looks MORE red after the makeup went on it.

The liner. The liner is just so bad. (Am I right? Or am I crazy?)  I do like the colors of the shadows. They aren't showing up well in the pics, but they are nice shimmer pinkish bronzey colors (which I am searching for)

The lady went a little overboard with the blush and bronzer on my cheeks. I complained about the last time I had makeup done and my blush went all the way up onto my temples and how stupid it was, and she said oh yes, much too high. She proceded to swipe bronzer up ONTO my ears saying, it really does need to go all the way back though, oh yes.  On no, lady. At least not with that heavy of a hand.

I also do LOVE the lipstick crayon color. I might buy this as a splurge to wear on my wedding day. I will look for a dupe first, because dayumn, 19$ for a lipstick? Sigh.

Here's the product breakdown:
 All Buxom products:
Foundation: Show me someshin weightless foundation
Eyeshadow: Lid- Collie    Browbone Cockerspaniel
Lipstick crayon in Havana

Didn't bother asking about the blush or bronzer, I wasn't a fan.

She sent me away with a sample of the foundation and a free lipgloss in Sophia. (Though the box says it tingles and there's nothing I hate more than tingley lip products. Oh well.

So, what do you think?
