I've been busy...

 Jean shorts: Kohls
Shirt: NY&Co

Life has been a little crazy these last few weeks. I've been interviewing for jobs, apartment hunting, working on inventory for some art shows that are coming up, etc. I just haven't had the time to take any photos. I did snap a few of my recent manicures, since I wanted to try out my new nail polish set I bought.

The brand is Kleancolor and I got it from amazon. I bought my first set from them a long time ago, it was a mini set of bottles of bright rainbow colors. They were awesome! So I bought a black-white ombre set maybe two months ago, and the colors are fine but the formula is terrible. I then got these metallics, hearing that they stamp well, and I love them! One did stain my stamper though, so I made sure to use a base coat the second time around for the regular paint job. If only I was feeling creative enough to do some really cool designs...

The makeup experiment

Now, I'm not usually one for being all, OMG, I'm not wearing any makeup, but I usually always feel more pretty with a little on. I'm probably making that worse by doing this, but I wanted to play with my makeup just a little and see the difference it might make. I attempted contouring, and yea, it was a flop. I must not be doing it right? You couldnt' even see a difference when I took a photo. Hmm. If I figure out the contouring, I'll be sure to post a photo of it...

Honestly, the biggest difference is really just that my eyes pop a little more. I'm not even wearing mascara. I think eyeliner is so much more important than mascara. For reals. Here's what I'm wearing:

Lucy minerals foundation
A covergirl Brownish eyeshadow with a bit of shimmer
Black eyeliner ( I rotate whatever brand I have on hand)
B.E mineral blush
Chapstick

Don't forget the age old advice from Full House my friends: "The secret to makeup is to make it look like you're not wearing any."

Sailor Saturday

Skirt/Dress: Burlington Coat Factory
Tank:Gap (similar at H&M)
Necklace: Charming Charlie
Earrings: etsy

I picked this skirt up along with my other new green and black maxi skirts the other day from Burlington Coat Factory. This one is fun because of the nautical type vibe, and it's sliiiightly high low (but not too extreme) and it's interchangeable and can be a dress or a skirt! Who doesn't love multi-purpose?

In other news, I've been "no poo" for a year now. (really, just sulphate and silicone free) My hair is still adjusting to the cut and hasn't curled very well the past couple days, but I'm workin on it.

So after my haircut the other day, I let her use styling products in it. (Last time she didn't, since she didn't want to mess up my no poo situation.) And when I went to wash my hair later, when it got wet...I could actually feel that plastic slime stuck in my hair. Sure, while it was dry it was silky and smooth, and then when it was wet I could totally tell it was coated in gunk that was NOT coming out without my reserve of sulphate shampoo. ICK. I was actually really shocked that I could feel the product residue  in my hair when it was wet. But I guess after a year of it not being there, you notice when some gunk is stuck in there. Needless to say, as nice and smooth as it was dry/straight, that grossed me out way too much while it was wet to go back to products filled with silicones. NO THANKS.

Haircut

I swear I cannot get this white balance thing right. Ugh!

Here's before and after my haircut, yesterday, and today in pink. Overall, I just needed these layers around my face so my hair wasn't just hanging there when I straightened it.  Added more layers in back too, hoping it will give my curl a little more bounce with less weight. Happily, it looks and feels just as long as before. Because you know, as a person with long hair that wants to keep it that way, the last thing you want from a haircut is for it to be shorter. Hah! I'm such a weirdo.

 Shorts: Old Navy
Top: Thrifted

I realized I really wanted the shot of the back so I took it just now. Much later in the day, stupid lighting. Am I the only one who is OCD about that? Gosh it drives me bonkers that I can't get the background WHITE. It's a white wall for crying out loud. Phooey

Going Greek

Sandals and Top: Athens, Greece
Melissinos Sandals
Skirt: Burlington Coat Factory

This is a greecian theme outfit, I guess mostly because of the sandals, and that two of the items I'm wearing, I bought in Greece.

These sandals are legit, too. All over Athens you will find tons of sandals, all part of the tourist trap. This was especially the case when I was there in 09, and the gladiator sandal was all the rage.

But these are real leather, completely handmade, and custom fitted to your feet in the shop before you buy. (I had a couple straps adjusted to better fit with width of my foot, and extra holes punched in buckle straps just in case) The shop is overflowing with sandals, which just makes it all the more awesome. If you are ever in Athens, you NEED to go here and buy his sandals. It doesn't get any more authentic than this.

Mr. Melissino

I wasn't kidding when I said the place is overflowing with sandals!

Chilly Friday

Bf works from home on Fridays, so he usually comes to visit me for the weekend Thursday night, and he worked from my place while I was at school, and he was done the same time I got out. Now that I'm on summer break, he's here and so am I. I told him not to look at me while I took pictures. He did anyway. I started cracking up....

 Jeans: Levis via TJMaxx
Top: Old Navy, less than $2 on clearance!
Anchor necklace: Charming Charlie

Happy Friday!

What A Difference A Diffuser Makes

Seriously, I really am amazed at the power of a good hair gel and a diffuser on a blow dryer. Check out my awesome hair! I thought I'd try to go the air dry route this summer, but after my hair dried limp and blah yesterday, it just left me feeling dumpy all day. Voluminous bouncy curls definitely make me feel a little more glam! Oh, and a little makeup doesn't hurt either! Now if I could just remember the lip gloss!

Skirt: Burlington Coat Factory
Tank: Banana Republic Outlet
Leaf Earrings: Ten Thousand Villages Boutique
Star Necklaces: Love Culture super cheap. Maybe 3 bucks?

The ironic thing about this shirt, is now I realize I just wore it not to long ago...and I really HATE that it's so high maintenance to dry flat. All those zig zag layers are not sewn down, and since it's a jersey material, it just wants to curl curl curl up on the edge, so I always have to weight down the edge with other random objects to prevent it from doing that. I do love this shirt though!
