3 Autumn Colors

Pants: NY&Co Pull on Pant
Tank: Not sure, old navy or F21
Cardi: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: gift

Hair is so. long. Seeeriously.  On a hair note, I thought the protein treatment worked great on my curls, but maybe it was that I also styled it slightly different a few times. Then suddenly it seemed really dry (uh oh), and I realized I also kind of straightened it more than usual in the two weeks following the protein treatment(s),so that could also have not helped matters,  and so I've been doing some deep  moisture treatments. Overall I don't feel like it's doing much better than before. I just have such a love hate thing going. Mostly hate lately. =(

Just ugh. Maybe it was the water in my old city that made it look better. (My hair has gone downhill since moving) There were some serious mineral deposits in the water  in P-town but maybe that was a good thing for my hair. Who knows. I feel like it also doesn't help I have it so long.

I'm seeeeeriously itching to chop it all off. CHOP CHOP. But you know, long hair is like a security blanket. And I'm scared. Just kidding. Or not.

Also, I feel like giving up on being so devoted to being "curly girl", but I feel kind of guilty. I had really embraced my curl for quite some time, but I feel like a traitor if I decide to be over it and cut it and wear it (mostly) straight for a while. Is that really that bad though? Decisions decisions...

African peacock?

Two people  told me on the day that I wore this that I looked like a peacock. Hmm

 Pants: Bergners
Top: custom made by seamstress in Africa
Cardigan: Old Navy

What's so interesting down there on the ground, you ask? No idea...

This shirt and I go way back to my study abroad trip in Benin.  We all had shirts made from the same fabric. I wish I had a photo on this computer to link, but alas, it's from many years ago and stored somewhere on my external hard drive, and I just don't have the energy to go digging that up.

Cardigan Love

I'm trying to work on going outside of my comfort zone a little more with clothes that I purchase/will purchase...because I feel like alot of what I've been buying has been somewhat more of the staples or basics for my wardrobe since trying to restart in the area of my style a couple years ago. So, the other day I wore this cardigan, which I got as a gift. I like the color, but most likely would not have picked it out for myself due to the textures lace pattern on the pockets and on the back.

There are some style bloggers I follow that I just really emulate what I wish my style actually was, and I've realized I'm not quite getting there because 1. my job type does in fact limit what is practical (elementary art teacher) and 2. I'm just not taking risks with my style. Example one, I wear black slacks probably 90% of the time.

In an effort to kind of spice things up and open my eyes more to things I like but might not reach for myself, I signed up to do Stitch Fix. My first fix is coming at the end of October. I'm pretty excited, I'm just really hoping  they will take my request to heart and try to find me the most budget friendly items (on average I think items are around 60$?)

Anywho, stay tuned for that, and as I try to spice it up a little more and take more fashion risks.

Jeans: Denizen via Target

I got the blues

I've had this sequin top in my closet with the tags on for at least 4 or 5 months. I hadn't worn it because one, it was way in the back and I forgot it was there (my bad) and two, it seemed too fancy and I had nowhere to wear it. But, my coworker had a sequin top the other day, so I figured, why not? And I really like this outfit. I could probably step it up even further by wearing a skirt.

I feel pretty stuck in my rut of black dress slacks. I tried to find some pixie pants at Old Navy, but all the cute colors and patterns only came in ankle length. Boo. (Am I the only one who HATES ankle pants?) My sneaky plan that I am testing is ordering the ankle pants in "tall" from the website, I'm crossing my fingers they might turn out like a straight leg normal length pant. We shall see...

Cardigan Obsessed

I'm not wonder woman, and I'm realizing that it's ok if I can't do it all. It's ok if I'm tired after a long day at work and just want to relax when I get home. So, I haven't been photographing outfits, I haven't really been posting. But you know, sometimes life just gets in the way!

Here's an old outfit  from the end of summer- I wrote up the post but forgot about it:

Flats: Payless
Dress: Old Navy
Cardigan: Charlotte Russe

The best part about a cardigan is it makes your outfit summer and inside a/c friendly. My new job has a/c in the building, and unfortunately it blows directly down on me! Brrr! Cardigans are great because I just throw one on and make an outfit like this not only more work appropriate, but a little more comfortable while the a/c is blowing.
